About

So. Cal. Super Street

The Southern California Super Street Associationhas been in existence since 1990 providing a grass roots environment for drag racers to hone their skills in preparation for competition in NHRA Divisional and National events. This Association offers a place for racers to transition from the junior rankings to sportsman level competition, as well as gives veteran racers a venue to continue improving and challenging themselves or to test new data.

Southern California Super Street Association began when a group of racers banded together to give an alternative to bracket racing and provide a fun, competitive, racer run organization.

Southern California Super Street format is based on the NHRA style of “Super” index racing. We compete on a heads up 10.90 dial, using a .500 pro tree. A weight rule is not in effect, which allows competitors from Super Gas, Street and bracket racing to come and enjoy the competition we can provide. Most racers will compete in our organization before venturing out and competing on the NHRA circuit. Current top NHRA sportsman racers continue to hone their skills by competing in our events. We feel that if you can win at a Southern California Super Street event, you can win anywhere. In fact, our racers have won numerous NHRA Divisional and National events.

Over the years the association experienced some great car counts, some as high as 105 entries! Many racers compete in our eight races over the season. We compete at 1/8 mile and 1/4 mile venues. To this day, the organization continues to be run by a group of volunteer racers. All sponsorship support and entry fees go back to the racer in the form of payouts and banquet awards.

At the end of the season, we gather together to show our appreciation to our sponsors, racers, and the families that make the Southern California Super Street Association what it is today.

As we look forward to another year of good, safe, and fruitful racing, we would like to include you and your business in the continuing growth of the organization.

Thank you,

John Sapone, SCSSA President
