It seems like I have made some great friends at the track so I have to thank them for cheering me on. Thanks to Steve's Air Conditioning, Heating, Plumbing on Sunday's race #6. That was awesome!! Thank you Mike and Donna Scarpelli. Every race was a good one, even the by was good to. I kept thinking that something was going to fall off the car or something wrong was going to happen. Nothing. Thank you sweet Jesus. After a blowing up my lower radiator hose and a red light on Saturdays Denso race #5 and missing 2nd round of qualifying to win I will take it. Thank you to all the racer's and friends for your help and support.

What a weekend for me my first win since i bought my race car (finally) I've been taking alot of heat from my friends The Blodgett's about when it was going to happen I have made it to the semi finals three times with no luck but the monkey's off my back now and now I know I can do it so maybe I won't have to wait two and a half years for the next one. A friend of mine Jim Laronis told me if your going to race Super classes be resilient because its not easy (man was he right) index racing is very tough because there is so many great racers competing in these classes. I want to thank The Scarpelli's for being such great hosts to our events they have always treated me and everyone like family and I really appreciate it. See you all at race 7&8

Broussard, Castro take Super Street titles at Auto Club Dragway

Tony Broussard and John Castro were victorious at Auto Club Dragway, winning the Southern California Super Street Assoc., event titles. The doubleheader race was the fifth and sixth of the 8-race series.
Number one qualifier Broussard drove his ’69 Opel to the Saturday afternoon final by defeating John Castro, Randy Guitar, and Scott Evans, while Dave Akard beat Tim Daniel, Bob Johnson, and Jim Ketcher before getting a semifinal bye. Broussard used a .017 light in the final, and took the win at 10.945, 138.10 as Akard’s Chevelle broke out by .005. Denso Sales California sponsored the event.
After a first round loss the previous day, Castro went to the final round by stopping Jim Ketcher, Dave Pearson, and Daniel before getting a semifinal bye run. Reigning champion Steve Parsons got to his first final this season with wins over Broussard, John Sapone, and Sarah Lockhart before squaring off with Castro in the final.
Castro had a .008 advantage at the starting line— .015 to a .023—and got the win light with a 10.930, 133.45 as Parsons’ Corvette broke out by .001. Steve’s Air Conditioning sponsored the race.
Fred Murphy holds a 5-point lead over Tim Daniel, (2661 points to 2656) in the Super Street points chase going into the final weekend of the season, scheduled for August 14-15 at Auto Club Dragway.

Wow, what a Saturday! First of all, I would like to thank Jim Ketcher & Randy Guitar for sponsoring the race. Super Street Runner-up
First of all, congratulations to Mr. Scott Evans on winning the First Super Street race of 2010, good job! Also, I would like to thank Tim and Donna Daniel for their support of the Southern California Super Street Association and for sponsoring the inaugural event of the season. Additionally, I would like to recognize all the hard work that Mike and Donna Scarpelli put in during the off season relative to acquiring Sponsorship support, and getting the cool new trophies for this year.
Also, I need thank the Whelen, Johnson, and, Boyd Families for all their help and guidance during the past two years, as well as the Mignacca family for trusting me with their baby.
After waiting in the Tech Lane for what seemed like hours with Randy Guitar, I had expected a totally different outcome for the day. To say the least I was honored and blessed, to have survived rounds 2 and 3, which was previously uncharted territory, and then to arrive at the finals for the first time was very exciting. The encouragement I received from all the folks in the Association while waiting for “call” was both reassuring and humbling.
In the end, the Final was a great race, and most importantly I didn’t choke, I just got there second.

First of all what a weekend for Fred Murphy made it to the final round Saturday and then again on Sunday. As the Winner on Sunday I would like to Thank Mike and Donna Scarpelli once again for running the Southern California Superstreet Association. Wow what a weekend! To Tim and Donna Daniel congratulations on winning Race #2, It is always a challenge to race against Donna’s tuning and Tim’s Driving, a most excellent combination to be sure. Also, On behalf of myself and the entire Southern California Super Street Association, I would like to express our appreciation to Richard P. Meyers and RPM Racing for sponsoring race #2. Your ongoing support and involvement to this Association is truly a blessing.
Additionally, I would like to personally thank Mike and Donna Scarpelli for all their hard work and commitment to the Association and this sport. You Guys Rock!
Lastly, I need to thank Mr. Craig Whelen and Mr. Bob Johnson who have invested significant time in coaching and mentoring me in this endeavor, especially the part about remembering to “BREATH”, and of course Nick Whelen the Sports greatest enthusiast.
On a weekend like, this you tend to look back and say “how in the heck did that happen” I was fortunate enough to participate in every round that was run in our class during the weekend, how cool is that! Two final rounds in two days, and my second opportunity to win one, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. This time Tim managed the finish line better, and I just went too quick.
All in all it was a Great weekend, thanks for letting me be a part of it

This year is no exception. We are still in need of race sponsors and trophy sponsors to fulfill the needs of So Cal Super Street. Again, I ask all of you as in the past to address this problem, by forwarding any information you may have of potential sponsors that may be in a position to assist So Cal Super Street, and to promote their product or business.
